Live at The Warfield celebrates the Jerry Garcia Band's magical three-night run at their beloved Bay Area home on February 28th, March 1st, & March 2nd, 1991. This 6-CD collection, newly mastered from soundboard recordings, features every note from all six complete sets--along with a few the audience likely never heard.
The band always seemed to be having fun on stage, and that energy is felt from the runs opening notes, with a particularly bubbly rendition of "The Way You Do the Things You Do" kicking things off. Highlights from February 28 include a primo "You Never Can Tell," a dynamite duo of "My Sisters and Brothers" and "Deal" to close the first set, and soulful takes on "Waiting for a Miracle," "Stop That Train," and "Midnight Moonlight."
The fun continues on March 1 with a playful tune-up on Argent's "Hold Your Head Up," leading into a punchy "Cats Under the Stars" as the stage curtain rises. Cited by some as one of the decades best shows, the middle night is punctuated by powerful double doses of Van Morrison ("He Ain't Give You None" and "And It Stoned Me") and Bob Dylan ("Forever Young" and "Positively 4th Street"). But it's the boundless "Don't Let Go" that takes listeners on a veritable wild ride, stretching over 20 mesmerizing minutes.
The run closes on March 2 with another strong show from start to finish, featuring a setlist that balances hard-hitting ballads with roof-raising rave-ups. Dylan remains well represented with a moving version of "I Shall Be Released," a dark and spooky "Señor," and a barn-burning "Tangled Up in Blue." With performances like these, it's easy to see how The Warfield cemented its place in the hearts and minds of Garcia and the greater Deadhead community.

I was at 3/2 and it blew me away. Still a Top 10 live show of all time for me (that I was at). A clear but too-quiet audience copy has a permanent home on my phone.

Man Jerry at the warfield was such a HUGE treat for the devoted! So glad to have been at all three of these and everyone until the end. Back in NYC now but JGB and the warfield are forever seared in my memories! Thanks for this release !
3 Amazing Shows

These were some hot shows. The March 1st second set was incredible. I remember having to run to the BART for the last train as the show went long. We all thought Positively 4th Street was going to be the last song of the set but then he suprised everyone with an incredible Everybody Needs Somebody to Love to close the show. These were unforgettable shows!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’ve always wondered when you’d get around to releasing 3/1/91. I’ve had it ion cassette tape but don’t have any way to play it anymore. I’m sure I saw all 3 shows at the Warfield that run, but the one that always sticks in my mind was 3/1. Something got into Jerry that night when he pulled Positively 4th Street out of thin air. I’m looking at Jerrybase now and he last played it before 3/1 in 1980. I just remember hearing those first few chords and flipped out because I always listened to the Keystone album and loved that song but never heard it live. I’m looking now and see he hadn’t played Money Honey since 1980 either! As mentioned, Don’t Let Go was a highlight too. All in all one of my favorite JGB shows, up there with his Warfield shows with David Grisman and the Squaw Valley show up on the mountain. I didn’t move to the Bay Area until 1988 so missed a lot of Keystone shows before then but 3/1 was heaven for me. I can’t wait to hear this.
