The first official Jerry Garcia Band live release to be pressed to vinyl, Electric on the Eel: August 10th, 1991 features two complete, previously unreleased sets captured at French’s Camp on the Eel River in Piercy, CA. The release consists of the familiar Jerry Garcia Band line-up, which was in peak form, jamming through a diverse songbook including the Garcia/Hunter composition “Deal” along with previously unreleased songs and other rare treats such as “Lazy Bones” and “See What Love Can Do.” This 4-LP set pressed onto 180gm vinyl features an etching derived from Thos Chapman’s original show poster on Side H and includes an MP3 download of the mastered audio.

FlyingEyeAugust 14, 2019Great packaging, if a bit spartan (no liner notes, photos, etc). Most importantly, the sound quality of the pressing is very good for this gem of a show. The band is clearly enjoying themselves as they explore an assortment of covers - Deal being the only original tune played. Highly recommend.

greengo72August 14, 2019As noted by Vault Keeper amazing show and sound (no book unfortunately but I know that helps keep the cost down which I appreciate). My only complaint is the credit info on the inside is a bit hard to read with the orange colored type on top of the cardboard brown background but the music more than makes up for it. Keep the Live Jerry vinyl coming!

The sound is crisp & clear, the set list magnificent & the playing by all makes this JGB shows one of the 90's best. If you love vinyl & JGB, do yourself a favor & grab this one. A nice addition to any record collection

REGAugust 14, 2019Excellent sound quality both in terms of the recording itself and the pressing. No hissing or pops on any side of any disc. Nice setlist, too--a combo of JGB standards and some less-frequently-played tunes. Would love to see the other Eel concerts pressed to vinyl, especially "Acoustic on the Eel" (8/29/1987). Note: I had some trouble getting the mp3 version to download to a Mac running Mojave, and the presser/manufacturer (i.e., not Garcia Family Provisions) got me a new code right away, which did the trick. Was very pleased with the customer service.

Garrett FrebergAugust 14, 2019Sublime sound. Jerry's guitar work is fantastic, the band is on fire and relaxed. The Eel River has so many great memories for us heads and this will take you back in time. The box set is fantastic and a must for any JGB lover.

SteveAugust 12, 2019Sound quality is absolutely clean and the show is a gem full of rarities and regulars alike. That version of the JGB during that time was just consistently stellar and this venue brought out such a cool vibe from Jerry - Shining Star, The Way You Do the Things You Do, and Waiting For a Miracle are my personal favs in this set but every tune pops. All wrapped in a minimalist packaging set up that is also appreciated. NOTHING but grateful for this release!!! :)
