The second installment in the Live at The Warfield vinyl series presents the Jerry Garcia Band's complete performance from March 1st, 1991 considered by at least one critic as "one of the [band's] best and most interesting shows of the '90s." It's presented here on 5xLPs housed in gatefold packaging.
The band--Jerry Garcia, John Kahn, Melvin Seals, David Kemper, Gloria Jones, and Jacklyn LaBranch--locks in immediately with a punchy "Cats Under the Stars" and keeps the energy flowing throughout both sets. Standouts include a gritty, reawakened version of "He Ain't Give You None," emotional takes on "Forever Young" and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," and a second set full of surprises--like the return of "Money Honey" and "Positively 4th Street" after more than a decade on the shelf.
At the heart of it all is a sprawling journey through "Don't Let Go," where Garcia channels blues, jazz, and full-on psychedelia in a masterclass of vocal and instrumental improvisation.

These vinyl issues are a DREAM COME TRUE! If you were there at any of the Warfield shows from March 1991 > October 1993, you know what I mean. Some of the best memories of my life. Being 18-20 years old & driving down from Arcata multiple times a year was my childhood church. I even got a brief "Hey Brother", when I happened to be at the right place at the right time just as his black Mercedes dropped him off & he hopped out to enter via the side door. I'm praying that they'll continue this Warfield project & issue the Riot run in 1992. I missed one of them the evening meat puppets were playing Slim's. That show turned out to be Super Duper. The two 1993 runs I caught (April & October) had some of the best guitar playing I've ever heard from Jerry!!! He' was continually experimenting with different tones & his improvisational skills were surreal. The GD had nothing on JGB in '93 & '94. I got to see 5 Ruben & Cherise's from 1990's Wiltern (My 2nd Jerry show when I was in High School) > 1993's October Warfield one. This was always the tune I was after. 1992's show at Ventura Fairgrounds was the best show of his 50th birthday tour IMHO. Khan was so loud I've yet to hear an Audience capture that could handle it. The board must be ridiculous sounding. Never could have imagined catching Johnny Too Bad at Reno '94. I went bonkers. Very appropriate cover for Jer. I was singing along to every word. Surprisingly many in the crowd that night didn't know the legendary Slickers time.…
